A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast

Great stories. Bad decisions.
Excellent company.

An international table of friends, unpredictable adventures, and the beautiful chaos that happens when the dice have other plans.

Welcome to the table

What the Hell Is
Nerd Therapy?

It’s Dungeons & Dragons, friendship, storytelling, and a healthy disregard for the idea that things will go according to plan.

Join an international group of friends as they explore the worlds of tabletop role-playing, tackle the unexpected, and discover that sometimes the funniest part of an adventure is everything going completely sideways.

Come for the fantasy. Stay for the personalities. And remember: the dice are absolutely not on your side.

⚄
Because nothing says “therapy” quite like rolling a natural one at the worst possible moment.— The spirit of Nerd Therapy
The voices behind the chaos

Meet the Party

Real people. Real personalities. Questionable in-game decisions. Meet the folks who bring Nerd Therapy to life.

Chris Hill

Chris Hill is a 40 year veteran of RPGs, as long as we ignore the 30 years in the middle when he didn't play... He has been singing with the local musical theatre group for 35 years, plays the guitar a bit and is learning the drums. He is an enthusiastic reader and watcher of science fiction and fantasy, and at various times has been a reviewer, on the jury of the Arthur C. Clarke Award and Carl Brandon Awards, and the administrator of the British Science Fiction Association Awards. As well as Penny, he shares the house with a dog, two cats, 10, 000 books and an increasingly large collection of Lego. He can be found as bookzombie on Bluesky.

Penny Hill

Penny Hill joined Nerd Therapy after listening to the first two episodes and wanting in. She has been singing and dancing with the local musical theatre group for 35 years and intends to restart playing the viola. She loves reading most genres of fiction and has contributed chapters to "Terry Pratchett: Guilty of Literature" and "The Arthur C Clarke Award, A Critical Anthology". She was chair of judges for the 20th anniversary Otherwise award (formerly Tiptree Award). As well as Chris, she shares the house with Lilo, Stitch, Coco Bubbles, 10,000 books and more craft kits and materials than is wise.

He has played D&D in one form or another since 1987.

Portrait of Iain MacKinnon✦
Founder · Editor · Original DVMPE Member

Iain MacKinnon

Originally from Scotland's Isle of Lewis and now living in Iceland with his wife and family, Iain MacKinnon is the founder of Nerd Therapy: A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast and has been part of the DVMPE family since the network's inception. As the creator of Nerd Therapy, Iain helped bring together an international cast of friends and fellow adventurers to share stories, laughter, and the occasional questionable decision involving a twenty-sided die. While life and family commitments mean he doesn't get to join the adventures as often as he'd like, Iain remains involved behind the scenes, continuing to edit the podcast and bring the group's escapades to listeners. He might not always be rolling the dice, but he's still making sure everyone gets to hear what happens when the rest of the party does.
