01 / THE PROBLEM

THIS ISN'T A
NORMAL CAREER
PATH.
IT'S MORE OF A
CRIME SCENE.

David Vox Mullen has spent a lifetime making things: jokes, films, music, shows, books, businesses, podcasts, characters, questionable decisions and the occasional project that was probably supposed to be somebody else's job.

The common thread isn't a medium. It's curiosity. Build the thing. Learn the thing. Put it in front of people. Then figure out what the hell comes next.

Under The L Productions is the filmmaking partnership of David Vox Mullen and director Danny Reyes, developing documentary, narrative and unscripted projects built around people, stories and worlds worth exploring.

The partnership is its own creative lane: cinematic, collaborative and built to take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

04 / THE LOUDER YEARS

THE SOLO DREAM
DIED.
SO I STARTED
A BAND.

At eighteen, David drove back home to Chicago from Nashville convinced the dream had just blown up. Then he changed direction: maybe he wasn't meant to be solo. Maybe he was meant to form a band.

ENTER
SLIPSTREAM.

In 1998, David met D.Jay Hattula and the thing took shape. With Dylan Hattula, Mario Ferro, later Chad “Chadrock” Alvarez, Chris Ray, later Daniel Blackburn, Slipstream became more than the next attempt. For a little over a decade, it was the job, the identity and the education.

They weren't signed. They didn't wait around to be discovered. They rehearsed, loaded the van and played. The band eventually became the first independent act booked by The Jenny Jones Show, landed in record-label boardrooms and kept chasing the next stage.

THE SOUND

THE BAND ENDED.

The music didn't. Years later, David remastered the catalog and previously unreleased tracks as Slipthology.

THE SKILLS TRANSFERRED.

Touring. Producing. Performing. Building an audience. Starting before permission arrives. The machinery behind everything that came later was already there.

AS LONG AS I'M STILL CREATING,
SLIPSTREAM IS NEVER REALLY GONE.

05 / AFTER THE BAND

THE BAND ENDED.
THE MUSIC DIDN'T.

After Slipstream, David kept recording under his own name. The sound changed, the projects got more personal, and music became another creative lane he could leave and return to whenever the right idea showed up.

THERE WAS
ALWAYS A
MICROPHONE.

Music came early. Broadcasting followed. Podcasting happened before everybody had one. The formats changed. The instinct didn't.
